Bella and Farrah held their 2nd Annual LMS Fundraiser at our local SweetFrog. Friends and family enthusiastically showed their support and helped to raise LMS awareness and $260 for Dana-Farber's LMS Researchers!

Our first big event, aptly named 'Upbeat Like Millie,' was a huge success because of the generosity of so many amazing people. We raised LMS awareness and nearly $16,000 for Dana-Farber's devoted leiomyosarcoma research scientists! Not too shabby for our first event!

In memory of their Grandma Millie, Bella and Farrah held their first fundraiser at our local SweetFrog. Friends and family showed their support as they joined us for some scrumptious frozen yogurt. 10% of SweetFrog's sales that evening were donated to the Sarcoma Research Department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. $100 donation was a nice start to Bella and Farrah's fundraising efforts!

Team Sandy Toes and Soggy Dollars walked 'The Walk' in memory of Millie! In just two weeks we were able to raise $1200. Funds raised supported Dana-Farber's compassionate patient care program and their groundbreaking research.

We hand delivered our first big check of $3,200 for Dana-Farber's Sarcoma and Bone Research Fund. Funds raised were from Millie's Celebration of Life and Bella & Farrah's Lemonade Stand sales. Way to go everyone!

We honored and celebrated Millie and her beautiful life with the same joy that she brought to all of us. Celebrating her life under the pavilion and listening to the sounds of steel drums on a balmy summer night couldn't have felt more right, or tropical. Throughout the evening guests made donations in Millie's memory to Dana-Farber's Sarcoma and Bone Research Fund. Their contributions totaled over $3,100!

Wow, we visited with the research scientists of DFCI's zebrafish laboratory! And let me tell you, they are very busy at work discovering cutting edge treatments to help save lives of children diagnosed with neuroblastoma! The transparent zebrafish allow scientists to directly visualize cancer processes including tumor growth, as well as tailoring the treatment regime to a specific form of cancer, like leukemia. It was an honor for my daughter's and I to spend the day in such great company. Meeting Dr. Thomas Look, the mastermind behind the zebrafish lab, was the icing on the cake!

As the guest speaker for The Jimmy Fund's 'Special Events Recognition Night' at Fenway Park, I was asked to speak about the quest that my family and I are on to raise LMS awareness and funding via our annual 'Upbeat Like Millie' fundraisers. It was a beautiful experience and I was honored and humbled to be a part of such an important event. We were treated to a Red Sox game too!
